My top five favorite things about U-verse is as follows:

1. 5 of 7 premium movie channel 300 on the package – just brilliant!

2. Search function – much better than scrolling through the guide to find a show or movie.

3. HDNet Movies – get to watch the movie before it is released to theaters just awesome

4. On Demand – more choice & choice compared with the previous provider.

5. HD Channel – ton … nuff said.

My only complaint with the service is that they do not give The CW channel, but other than that I give U-verse 9 of 10.

I am a Time Warner customer and less happy. While TV service from the time the warning was fine, I have a 2 year battle with their horrible DVR, that I had to create their own tricks to keep it working properly, but finally after 2 years of upgrade work OK, but not great. I also have a bulletin 7mbps their services. The Internet is the biggest problem. I had technicians here and they all said it was OK, but did not, speed is all over the place and could not anything including Netflix streaming without buffering excessive. I have a feeling that TWC is stretching their services too thin in my neighborhood, and by nature with their bandwidth and that people use more than that, I think that’s causing the problem. I like the fact that I connect directly to the VRAD and that I not only use the service apart from my neighbor (as with TWC, just an ordinary splitter).

I was thrilled when I got a postcard in the mail from At & t! I ordered the U200 and broadband max that night.

My biggest problem is that the best appointment is 3 weeks away, and I did not want to wait that long, but I did not. Two days before the install I got a call from At & t ask if they could encourage further appointment because they were overbooked. This kinda beat me, and I said well, if I can not get my original promise and then cancel it, I have family coming for Christmas and I do not have to deal with the install as they are here. I got the original appointment as requested.

December 18 was a technician come and install a new box and tested out of line, he said everything was gone. The next day the installer came and started work. I let him install a new cable box directly outside the house through one cable, he suggested this because the old cable to add distance to the signal (I know what is meant by this). after it was over, he began installing equipment that uses the existing cable and replace most of the cable upstairs, she did not like the look of how the cable companies do.

He’s got all the run box and programmed the remote to work with each of the TV (nice touch). She’s showing off the service, making us online and answer questions. He also gave me his cell phone number to call him directly if there is a problem. The entire install took less than 3 hours.

I must say in spite of its limitations I really enjoyed the service. Internet is very consistent to give the speed and I get 11Mbps, 12Mbps service consistently, which I find very acceptable! 2wire router that is very good, I’m in the living room basement and get almost full bars on the second floor (2nd story from the basement), far better than I have a router before.

TV service is also great. I will say that I see little difference in HD quality, I think that TWC may have a little edge, but close enough to Uverse very well. I love the whole house DVR service! We have 4 boxes including DVR box, and only once have we got a message that all services are in use, but come to find out one of the tvs are not even monitored so that the repaired quickly. I hope to at least one more school in the future, and then I doubt that there will be any problem in this house.

I have received my rebate before I was even the first bill because, this is a pleasant surprise!

All in all I highly recommend this service if people realize the limitations river. Just before installing uverse, I’d look into an HD box for the bedroom, TWC wanted to charge for other digital tier (already paid for 2), box rent, and rent a remote with a total of U.S. $ 17 extra. TWC HD brags about freely, but far from free, adding tv with full service from TWC is $ 10 more than Uverse, not free in my book! TWC also costs $ 12 per month for the wireless network (I have a router itself though), is included with Uverse. Uverse also has more channels TWC has us begging for, for years

below is user experience from Windsor Connecticut

Just moved into my new house about 6 weeks ago, and has U-verse installed today after waiting too long for Comcast to do a few lines of work. I took the liberty to run cat 5e and Rg6 for every room in my house a few weeks ago in preparation for cable / ethernet, and I’m glad I did! I ran all the cables myself because I want to jack in the wall are in certain places, and Comcast can not / will not be a wall of fish (I understand the reasons he gives).

Fast Forward, U-verse My physical install easy to technology. She just needs to run new Cat 5 cable to RG from outside the box and then 3 patch cables to connect the rest of tv’s. After about an hour, the TV is showing pictures! The technician told me I 1200-1300 ‘away from the VRAD and I get a healthy signal. The RG told me I was getting 32 / 5 profile, which makes me happy because I plan to add 3 HDTV in about a years time! I also ordered the Max 18-speed Internet and the after RG was set-up, the technician had me go to speakeasy.net for speed testing, to make sure I get the bandwidth that I pay. With the 3 tvs (one shows the HD) I took the speed test and got 15mbs down, 1.5 up. Not Bad!

All SD channels look great! I’m not entirely happy with the HD channels the picture. They looked a little softer than what I’m used to Comcast at my old house. Also when watching the highlights on ESPN-HD, I see pixelation in the grass and on taking a rather ugly panning. But I knew going into the U-verse HD pictures they are very crowded and many people who share the same experiences that I have seen today with the HD.

Never really had a problem with the service of each, but feel that this technology (IPTV) is the “wave” of the future. I already have a STB for the service called SkyAngel (Christian and family-friendly) IPTV service, so I’m familiar with the technology

I went to a beautiful new store in Corte Madera in the city center though, and it was amazing. Large stores, and have all the resources one could want, and the staff were very good. They set up an install for me, and also gave me back $ 100 more to sign up with them
I love my U-verse now, and would recommend anyone to have it! Check it out at the Corte Madera store, and I’m sure they will give you tons of information to answer your question

Both of their U-verse installed yesterday and I had met or exceeded all my expectations. Consistent 17 + Mbits / s download and 1.5 upwards. Two super-POT’s lines that are clear, and the tone of the channel! HD picture shows a bit more MPEG motion artifacts from the former Bright House service, but only slightly!
Plus the Bright House:
100 + more channels and less $ 40 per month
Could schedule my DVR through my Windows mobile device or web browser, nice very nice!
Much larger hard drive on the new DVR than the old SA 8300HD
Centralized DVR – can watch recorded programs on any of the three HD TV’s
Sports Multiview is god-send for any low-grade football team!
The kids love the game and a nice selection of VoD.
Ultra fast channel change
HDNET is back!

Negative:
Can only be stopped and backed broadcast TV in the main DVR. If AT & T is reading, please fix this!
Only two HD stream at a time.
HD quality is only slightly worse.

Below is review from new user :

I decided to switch from Comcast which is a big decision because I have become their customer (in one form or another) for about 15 years. Frankly, our house is designed to ATT U-verse because we have fiber to the location and not have to worry about being near the VRAD. I ordered IP phone service, U200 TV package with three additional recipients, and “Max” Internet service (12Mbps).
Installer called and ran a little late. He arrived at 12:30 pm (originally scheduled for 12:00). This person is great. Very spacious and a little tech junkies like me. He answered every question I threw at him and walked me through the whole install – I love this stuff! He even helped me bring down the 55 “Plasma HDMI cable to install new ATT offers! Can not beat that! Entire 6-hour install time, but it could have gone much faster if I did not ask so many questions!
Let me tell you … ATT U-Verse really amazing! I love this service! I really feel the HDTV picture quality better than Comcast. The same Internet speed (I have 12Mbps with Comcast too) and a good telephone service. My wife likes it because we can program all of our DVR recordings online! How cool is that! Also, I can stream music and pictures to a plasma TV! We rocked out this weekend for a music playlist that I’ve created via Windows Media Player on my computer! In addition, my wife likes to watch recorded TV shows all around the house – a big advantage over Comcast!
So far, this has become a very big decision. Best of all, I will save about $ 683 in the first year! There are no hiccups in picture quality and internet service has been solid. ATT’s wireless routers / modems / VOIP box near homerun run (where all the cables into the house) in our master closet and all the computers (3) connected to the Internet without wires. So far, so big (two weeks)! I would definitely recommend this service
